Calculating Gallons in a Pond
The most important information you should know about your pond is the number of gallons. Correct filter sizing and water treatments are based on this number. If you have a water meter and can determine the gallons when you fill the pond up that is the best measurement. If the pond already has water you can use the following calculations to determine how much water.
There are 7.48 gallons of water per cubic foot.
To figure gallons in your pond:(All measurements are in feet)
Rectangle: length * width * depth * 7.48 = gallons
Irregular Shape: Multiply above number by .8 to adjust for less than perfect rectangle
Circle: 3.14 * (1/2 diamter * 1/2 diameter) * depth * 7.48 = gallons
