Pumps are important in circulating the water in order to prevent the growth of algae and provide oxygen for fish and plants. If you have fish, your pump should run continuously during the months the fish are active. You should circulate 1/2 the volume of pond water in 1 house. Place your pump as far from the water return as possible to maximize circulation.
